On February 26, 2020, Binh Viet Duc Co., Ltd. held a product presentation of Deplin 600mg with the participation of all Doctors, Nursing Department of Endocrinology of Thu Duc Regional General Hospital.
The current state of diabetes in the world is estimated by the World Diabetes Association (IDF) with more than 425 million people, meaning that 1 out of every 11 people has diabetes. Among them, 1 in 2 people with diabetes do not know they have the disease (do not go to the diagnostic test for diabetes). Late treatment will lead to many dangerous complications and directly affect the quality of life and health of patients.
It is predicted that the number of people with diabetes in the world will increase to 522 million by 2030, and this number will increase even more if people are subjective to the disease.
In Vietnam, the rate of diabetes is increasing rapidly, the number of people doubling in the past 10 years.
In 2017, the current situation of diabetes in Vietnam with the number of diabetes patients is 3.54 million (accounting for 5.5% of the population). The group of patients with prediabetes (impaired glucose tolerance) is 4.79 million people (accounting for 7.4% of the population).
Thus, one out of every 7.5 people has diabetes or prediabetes. The number of patients with diabetes in Vietnam is expected to increase to 7.7% of the population by 2045.
Diabetes causes many dangerous complications affecting the heart, kidneys, eyes, nerves … In particular, neurological complications are the most common complication of diabetes. Many large studies in the world show that 47% of diabetic patients have neurological complications. In which 7.5% was detected at the time of diagnosis of diabetes and this figure increased to 45% after 25 years. The most common manifestation is polyneuropathy with a prominent symptom of pain sensation, encountered in 20-30% of patients.
The pathogenetic mechanism of diabetic neuropathy is an increase in free radicals in the blood due to sugar metabolism. This is the basis for using antioxidants to treat the disease.
Alpha Lipoic Acid is an antioxidant that has been shown by some studies to reduce symptoms of pain, numbness and paresthesia, and improve peripheral nerve functions.
Deplin product with active ingredient Alpha Lipoic Acid with content of 600mg is indicated for the treatment of polyneuropathy causing diabetic sensory disorders. With the desire to improve and improve the quality of life for patients with diabetes, the product has received many questions, concerns and support from Doctors and Nurses of Endocrinology Department of Thu Duc Regional General Hospital.
